georgetown

Today I went on a trip into DC with a good friend. We hadn't had time to catch up in a while so getting together today was much needed. We had so much fun riding the metro, walking around Georgetown and shopping. She has been such a great friend to me and I loved getting updated on everything that's going on in her life. We spent one summer in my house doing crafts all the time and the next summer we didn't see each other until the very end, where we stayed at Starbucks for three hours. No matter what we are doing I can always count on a good time filled with laughs and good conversation - pair that with shopping and cupcakes and you have the best day ever.

This is us waiting in line for Georgetown Cupcakes.

Georgetown is seriously my favorite place in DC. I absolutely adore it - the old buildings, the DC buzz, the shops, the food...the list could go on forever. It's the perfect mix of old and new; the buildings that line M Street are circa the 1700s and are painted cutest vibrant colors (making me wish I lived in them so bad). I was so overwhelmed with how much I wanted to live there, making secret plans in my head about my future life. We spent at least an hour in Urban Outfitters and while she way trying on her clothes, I was people watching - watching all sorts of girls in all sorts of outfits walk by me and I felt so inspired. It made me want to change my wardrobe, my "look" (if I even have one). Will I? Probably not, but I like to dream and maybe it will inspire me to branch out a little.

Let me say a little bit about Georgetown Cupcakes. We waited in line for 30 minutes. Worth. Every. Second. Those cupcakes were absolutely delicious. I got coconut, red velvet, chocolate banana (which I ate as soon as I sat down), and vanilla birthday. So cute. So yummy. I love love love this place. It may be my favorite place in Georgetown...maybe.

peace out, rachel

new computer, new me

This post is brought to you from my BRAND NEW MAC! So exciting! I have wanted a Mac for so long and now I am the proud owner of a 13 inch MacBook Pro :) Thank you santa! I believe this new computer is the beginning of a new me...a more artsy, creative, technological me? Who knows.

I figured the beginning of a new blog (and my apparent transformation into an artsy hipster) deserves a post that contains some fun facts about myself. It may be ridiculous or weird or different, but, you know what, this is a little slice of who I am (no judging). So here are 10 facts about what makes me, me:

1. I go to Virginia Tech. And I absolutely love it - I am a Hokie fan till the end. I could never imagine myself anywhere else.
2. I started my freshman year as a nutrition major...and changed that Spring semester to an English major. Drastic? Yes. Worth it? Definitely. I am still mad at myself for that D in Chemistry that Fall. But I looooove being an English major and I am good at it. I believe that if you aren't doing what you love then the money, the time, whatever is just not worth it.
3. Creativity is my middle name. I love crafting - I could spend hours working on a craft project.
4. Antique shops are my favorite places. My mom and I go antique shopping as much as we can; she looks at Mason jars, I look at jewelry.
5. I truly believe in dressing for success. And retail therapy.
6. I work hard, really hard. I put 115% into everything that I do and I never settle for less than I know I can do.
7. Taking pictures is my escape. If I could just take pictures for the rest of my life I would be completely satisfied.
8. I worry about everything. I don't handle stress well. Everyone has faults, those are mine and I am working really hard to try to deal with them better.
9. I believe in love (such a romantic).
10. Jesus is my number one. I try to live a Christian life whole-heartedly.

Welcome to a little bit of my world :)

blogging

I've tried this blogging thing before...obviously, that did not work out so well. But, alas, I find myself back to blogspot wanting to give it a second try. After obsessing over other people's blogs, I have decided that I need to give this a second try - a really good second try. I am an English major after all, so I should have plenty of interesing thoughts, right? I sure hope so.

Here is my vow: I promise to write as often as I can. I promise to be open and honest and, most of all, to be myself. Finally, I promise to provide posts that will provide insight on how I see life that will (hopefully) interest you, whoever you may be.

So I hope you will continue to read my crazy thoughts about life, love and what makes the world - well at least my world - go round.

peace out - rach
